REINALDO CAZALES
Chilean artist.
There is little known information about his origins. He is said to have been born in Santiago, Chile, at some undetermined point in the second half of the 20th century, although exact records remain unrecorded. His story has been woven through his works, rather than dates or documents. In 2020, reaffirming his desire to maintain distance between his personal identity and his artistic output, he created an acronym that he adopted as a pseudonym, retaining only his first name.
He entered the arts intuitively and self-taught, creating replicas of old house facades inspired by his hometown, the old Matta neighborhood. Some are exact miniature copies. He creates his own materials from collected objects and discarded items. Several of these artistic pieces are found in different cities around the world, with no documentation or further traceability of their current fate.

At the same time, driven by a strong need for expression, he turned his creative talent to sculpture, where his greatest creative strength lies, inspired by various currents, although only using a few in his works, such as figurative and conceptual art.

He also ventured into performance art with "La Solución," an intervention in Chile's Government House and La Moneda Palace, during the visit of King Juan Carlos I of Spain to the 17th Ibero-American Summit (2007); and with the performance "Un Toque" at the Codelco Cultural Gallery (2006); in addition to delving into writing with texts such as "El Forastero" and the micro-writing series "Al seco."
In 2023, the internationally renowned Chilean academic, sculptor, and curator Gaspar Galaz awarded an appraisal of his work, recognizing and supporting its relevance.

Some of his creations have arrived in cities such as Sydney, Montreux, Chicago and Brasilia.

Reinaldo Cazales presents his creations here, works finished and in progress, which move between contingency and mysticism.
