Enrique Santos Campuzano Araya, painter. He was born in Iquique, Chile on June 1, 1948. Self-taught artist, of a Spanish father and a Chilean mother. From his childhood he felt a natural inclination for artistic manifestations, among them, music, singing, poetry, theater, dance, drawing, painting and also geometry and mathematics.
He settled in Santiago around 1970 in search of new perspectives. Between 1963 and 1969 he made numerous designs for the theater, one of his great passions.
For economic reasons, he had to dedicate himself to work in the banking administrative area and in order not to neglect his artistic vocation, he proposed to study different disciplines in professional institutes, including staging, graphic design, theater photography, drawing, history of painting, anatomy. and composition. In 1978 he took private classes with the painter Ladislao Cheney, who encouraged him to continue on the path of painting. Since the early eighties he decided to dedicate himself to painting professionally.
In 1984 he attended the Critical Painting Workshop course, taught by the painter José Balmes, he also studied nude sketches in the Alhambra Palace in Santiago and anatomy of the human figure. The last exhibition of his work at the Fundación Cultural de Providencia had a large public participation during the entire period that the exhibition lasted. In it, it was possible to appreciate the talent developed in the last 20 years by the artist, work that has earned him great national and international recognition. His work is marketed quite successfully in different galleries in the United States, Europe, Chile and Latin America.
