THE TROLLS OF MICROORGANISMS

by JUANITA VIAL S.

Eleven years ago, Teresa Cruz decided to make her work a spiritual retreat that only those who knew the path or found it with wisdom could reach.

She devoted herself to observing microworlds, connecting deeply with them, capturing them on paper with the strength that comes from belonging to that nature that even allows her to make holes in her own drawings when it is valid to introduce inks, strokes or color, just as Nature does it disrespectful when we let her free. There are times when the mineral that his work has, needs to enter violently. Everything is full of membranes that come to life and unite with and without intention in a cautious, subtle and delicate way. Nothing, except strokes that ask that this be done, is painted by force. The black inside the black is the same black, just as the white inside the white is the same white.

This work is pure and honest. In it there is no lie or other lines.

The pandemic made Teresa Cruz not take things for granted or certain. It made her fear her surroundings. Look at nature from afar. Everything could be a minefield. And again, he discovered that we were even more fragile.

What is read in his work is impossible to explain with words. It is only transmitted and has an emotional alphabet. Reach the places where the water lily reaches in the swamp. To the most private and mysterious. To those who must surrender without fear. On the other hand, but hand in hand, his photography shows us, just like his painting, the circularity of this private and public cosmos, where return is always present. The beauty is always ready to be caught by true admirers prepared and attentive to leave a space for her within them. Only in this way does the cosmos accept and allow extremely careful and gifted hands like those of Teresa Cruz to manipulate it with extreme secrecy to modify its beauty and convert it, once again, into the circular sense of our lives.

Thank you Teresa Cruz for these years of dedication, for this introspection, for allowing us to travel to the cosmos and return to your side and dream that the world, imaginary and real, can be better.
