Guillermo Lorca was born on March 14, 1984 in Santiago, Chile. He is a figurative painter.

Guillermo can be considered a self-taught painter, because after studying art for a year at the Catholic University, he went to Norway to become, at the age of 22, an apprentice of the renowned painter Odd Nerdrum. When he returned to Chile, he became one of the most influential young artists of figurative painting in his native country. Classified by some critics as realistic and even hyper-realistic, Lorca maintains that he is not interested in what he does "looking like a photo", because he finds it absurd, "If a camera can do it better. What interests me is the content of the scene, the story that is put together and that this story arises from the power of painting as an exercise and language"

The work of Guillermo Lorca, receives influences from the fine painting of the medieval period and the beginning of the Renaissance and, on the other, makes a special wink towards the world of movies.

His painting is constituted by a temporality that is expressed through characters, actions, places, times and intentions. In each of his paintings, we are faced with suggestive, complex and disturbing images, composed of controlled spaces in which the characters and objects lie in perfect balance. However, in this context of formal control, it is difficult to determine what happens at the narrative level. Because Lorca appeals to mystery. And the truth is that, as spectators, we surrender with delight to this space of doubts. Somehow, doubt and indeterminacy are part of his aesthetic proposal.

His work, of baroque influence, is characterized by dealing with themes such as violence, sensuality, innocence and childhood; It is influenced by classical painters such as Rembrandt and Diego Velázquez, as well as new pictorial currents such as Lowbrow.

Lorca has also ventured into the cinema, as an actor in the film "El Verano de Los Pescas Voleos" (2013), by Marcela Said, and in the film "Manuel DP's them all"

"The renowned Chilean painter Guillermo Lorca García-Huidobro is a of the young figures of the national artistic scene whose work not only draws attention in our country, but also transcends borders".
